Ovation Solidbodies Pickup 1969 Patent

Patent for an adjustable electromagnetic pickup for electric guitars. Features individually adjustable permanent magnet cores for each string, surrounded by a common generating winding. Each core can be moved along its axis via a non-magnetic adjustment arm and screw to vary string-to-core spacing. An electrically conductive shielding case with a nonconductive zone (gap) prevents circulating eddy currents that would oppose flux through the cores, resulting in greater output signal intensity.
